Dr. Janean Anderson
A Great Therapist

Brienne Brown Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist

I am a compassionate licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of trauma, chronic illness and substance abuse, as well as depression, anxiety and general mental health issues.  I am incredibly passionate about working with individuals who are suffering; I believe a strong therapeutic relationship can create lasting, positive change.  As a multiculturally competent psychologist, I strive to create a safe space for all clients, regardless of background, ethnicity, religion, sexuality and gender identity.

Education & Training

I completed by Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University with a minor in Neuropsychology.  I completed my predoctoral internship at the New Jersey Veteran's Administration Hospital.  I have specialized in the treatment of trauma-related disorders since 2012.

  • Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Seton Hall University (APA accredited program)
  • Predoctoral Internship at the New Jersey VA Hospital, (APA accredited doctoral internship)
  • M.A. in Psychology, The New School for Social Research (APA accredited program)
  • B.A. in Psychology, Lafayette College

Approach to Therapy

I take an integrative approach to therapy, combining aspects of interpersonal and humanistic frameworks.  I treat clients with genuine warmth and positive regard, while understanding their current real-life situations, personal strengths and areas for growth.  I believe positive change is directly related to the client-therapist relationship and thus take great care in cultivating collaborative and compassionate relationships in therapy.

I believe that each individual's unique sense of self is defined by a multitude of factors, including early experiences, ethnic background, religious beliefs, sexuality, and experience of gender.  Therefore, I am passionate about creating a safe, judgement-free environment where people of all backgrounds feel comfortable to explore issues which brought them to therapy.

After receiving the majority of my clinical training in New York City, I am fulfilling a life long dream of relocating to the Denver area!  I find that my heart is happier in the mountains and am thrilled to be working with the incredible professionals at CTAC.  In my free time I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
